The Validation and Innovation Point Asbestos (VIP) has advised the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment to approve the Batteryspray removal method. This is a method that the company developed for the removal of spacers, with packing material containing no more than 60% chrysotile, as well as stuffing box gaskets containing both <60 and >60% chrysotile. The VIP advises that the Batteryspray working method for spacers and stuffing box gaskets be approved for risk class 1 and added to the SMA-rt web application (SMA-rt).

The Netherlands Labour Authority assessed the method as both practicable and enforceable. In mid March, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment informed the VIP that it will adopt its advice. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has asked Ascert (the SMA-rt manager) to add this change to SMA-rt.
